Yoho National Park, Canadian Rockies

Twitter
This is the 3rd part of the Canadian Rockies + Glacier of USA Adventure Trip series. In this 3rd part, I will be sharing about the beauty of Yoho National Park.
Emerald Lake, Yoho National Park, BC, Canada
"Yoho" is a Cree expression of awe and wonder, and very appropriately so. I jovially said out loud, "yoooohoooo!!", after my eyes settled and my heart beat faster in excitement upon seeing the beauty of Yoho National Park. The park is found in the western slopes of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Yoho is bordered by Banff National Park to the East, and Kootenay National Park to the South. It's a park with snow-topped mountain peaks, roaring rivers, calm lakes and silent forests. It's a park whose history is bound up with a railroad: spiral tunnels inside mountains and stories of runaway trains.

This is one of the places in the Canadian Rockies that makes me wish to go back again, to explore more, since we had one day lost to heavy rain here ( but that rain was a blessing, since it put off the wildfire in Jasper and Banff ), and there's so much trails to explore here that will make the heart sing, "yoho". We haven't explored the Lake O'hara region of Yoho, because no private transportation are allowed in the area. One must make reservation for Yoho National Park's transportation to Lake O'hara at least 3 months in advance. Sadly, by the time I called the park, there were no longer seats available for the dates we would be visiting.
Takakkaw Falls
Nevertheless, we enjoyed so much our time at Emerald Lake, Takakkaw Falls, Wapta Falls, and other sights at Yoho. For Lake O'Hara, well, hopefully next time! Thinking of next time, makes my heart sing, "yooohoo!!"
sorry yahoo, but jumping for joy is never obsolete, yoho!! :)

Here are a few more pictures from our wonderful wanderings at Yoho.

  3. Finally, I have been waiting for this post. Your photos speak a million emotions the first time you posted them in FB. They were both good and bad. The bad ones are jealousy, envy and desperation. LOL I think it's unfair that I don't get to see this breathtaking views. But one of the good emotions is, that I have hope that one day I too will see them and take thousand of photos too. And yes, as your friend, you may want to be my hiking guide. wink*
