Will Cell phone Camera Replace Point and Shoot Cameras?

Same Sight, Different Day, @ Torrey Pines
Several years ago, I planned on buying a small camera as my everyday camera. Something I can place inside my purse everyday to take photos of surprising or special moments. However, it never materialized because cell phone cameras kept on upgrading their features that I ended up using my cell phone camera as my everyday point and shoot camera. Of course, the cell phone camera can not replace a dslr for me especially shooting wildlife, taking macro shots, action pictures or capturing more details of rocks. But I find that I am satisfied with my cell phone as my point and shoot camera for landscape photos, thus, I no longer desire to buy a small and tiny for everyday camera. Here are some of cell phone shots from this weekend's and last weekend's wandering.

Home Sweet San Diego

a mini wordless but picture-filled post of some of my favorite photos that I took here in my adopted new home sweet home, San Diego.

Glucosamine Is The Key To Joint Wellbeing

The office staff were recently given a talk on ‘ Health and Care ‘ by the medical officer from the local hospital.  We were given an outline what health and care if all about.  One of the topic is how to prevent joint pain as we grow older.  As we grow older by the day, we become less efficient at renewing our connective tissue and one way to help the rebuilding of connective tissues around  our joints, tendons, ligaments and cartilage.  These tissues are continuously being formed and reformed during normal everyday activity.  And the only way to care for our joints is  to increase our intake of glucosamine in our daily intake, unfortunately very small amount is found in our food.

Rain or Shine, It's Another Beautiful Weekend

Time flies when you are having fun. Before you know it, another weekend just passed.
We had our second drizzles here in San Diego since June of this year probably. I can't wait for more rain to come to shower the dried up soil so that by spring the trails will rejoice with happy colors.

What New York Has To Offer

New York from Empire State Building
A single book would not be enough to fully discuss what New York has in store for the rest of its visitors. Over the years, it has become a well known city that everyone would love to set their feet on. It is a place where in the opposites happens to live harmoniously. They got solemn opera houses; intricate communication and fashion industries; fine museums; diverse culture and world famous landmarks that no other cities can offer.

Getting Close to Participants of Seabirds" Party

In my post last Saturday, "Surfing Dolphins at Torrey Pines", aside from dolphins having fun, we also enjoyed watching sea birds' party. Sunday, we decided to take better chances getting closer to the sea birds, so we went to La Jolla for a combined leisurely walk and photography. It was not really a very good day for bird photography (not a lot of them flying in groups or swimming in groups), but because this is San Diego's backyard ( where we live), we did not mind. We still enjoyed seeing these birds enjoy the beauty of life, again and again.

Here are some pictures from last Sunday's wanderings.

Nopalea and Sunset Watch

I love watching the sun go down. Wherever I am when the sky starts turning gold I get this indescribable feeling of happiness. It is one day gone; hours that passed which can not be undone; a box of memories to cherish. Walking along the shores or climbing uphill to get the best view of the sky is an activity a high school buddy Rhod and I both love. Being still single and having a flexible work schedule she has time to accompany me each time.

Point Dume

Point Dume State Beach, Malibu, CA
We went here after our hike at Solstice Canyon Deer Valley Loop Trail, for lunch at The Sunset Restaurant which is an ocean front restaurant outside of Point Dume State Park. While waiting for our lunch, we were entertained by several dolphins playing in the surf. After lunch, my cousin and I took a relaxing stroll to the top of Point Dume. The complete Point Dume hike is 4 miles round trip, 400 ft change in elevation. Here are some more pictures of our after lunch stroll :)

A Rose Filled Lanai

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Miracle-Gro for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
Waking up every day and being greeted with a lot of beautiful roses is considered to be one of the nicest feelings in the world. It would be a bit expensive to purchase cut roses daily and fill up your vases thus planting and growing your own is the most practical way to do. It would be very fulfilling to be able to see them bloom into gorgeous looking flowers.

The Summer That Was

La Jolla Shores Beach, San Diego, CA
Time flies so fast when you are having fun. Like the sea gulls above,  I believe time flies so fast for them chasing the fish in the sea. Like them, I was too. However, before I knew it, summer said goodbye. Maybe, I will get to play with the waves and the sea life again, next summer.

Mom and Baby Gorilla @ San Diego Zoo Safari Park
When I was still living in Connecticut, my academic director who was concerned I will get bored and homesick having no one around introduced me to a kindhearted group of Filipinos who welcomed me and made me feel at home. They were like my angels. There were times I got home feeling so sad and lonely for having no one to talk to, and all of a sudden, my phone would ring, one of them giving me a call to pick me up for dinner, or for some shopping ( wandering with them was shopping ), or for a movie, or just for a simple get-together. I would temporarily forget the feeling of longing to be closer to family and friends I left behind in the Philippines.

Artist Paint Pot, Yellowstone National Park

Peach Colored Soil @ Artist Paint Pot
The Artist Paint Pot is South of Norris Geyser Basin and North of Madison Junction. The trail is an easy hike to several geothermal features which you will also probably see in the other parts of Yellowstone. Unlike Midway Geyser Basin and Lower Geyser Basin, the Artist Paint Pot geothermal features can be observed after about 0.3 mile hike along pine forest. After about 0.3 mile, there is a wooded boardwalk that slowly climbs up and goes around several features in Artist Paint Pot area, such as the mudpot below.

The Convenience Of Air Taxis

Air Taxi?........
Aerial View of Mt. Rainier
An air taxi is another term for a charter plane that is being used for a charter flight. Such term because just like the land taxis, it can go to any place at any time you want.

You won’t be waiting in queue in a typical scheduled flight but of course expect that you would be paying more than the usual one. However, for those whose time is very important, getting a charter flight can actually be a money saver for them. If you’re in hurry or perhaps accompanying a group of important clients who needs to be in a distant meeting place, having a charter flight is much more practical. A lot of professional photographers also are hiring air taxis because it gives them the luxury of being able to shoot because like land taxis, charter flights can be designed in such a way that sightseeing becomes more pleasurable and taking photos become more productive.
Aerial view of Mt. Rainier (top left corner) and Mt. St. Helens ( bottom right)
Charter flight services are most likely present in all major airports in the country just like the Boston Charter Flights that we once availed during a company convention. All of the participants had a convenient flight and never experience the hassle in the airport like what usually happens with passengers in a normal flight schedule.

Back to Photographing From the Highlands

Cabrillo National Monument, San Diego, CA
(panorama shot above, and the 5 panorama below were taken using the new panorama feature in the new IOS6 of iPhone, I just upgraded my software but still use the old cell phone)
It has almost been 3 months since we have stopped hiking the highlands of San Diego. Since July, hiking and photographing from the highland took a backseat in favor of enjoying the waves. I sure had a wonderful 3 months riding the waves, snorkeling with the friendly leopard sharks and other fishes, and tidepoling

Moms Know Best

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pep Boys for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
~by Zenserly/kulasa~
I woke up this morning to the sound of my phone beeping. I got a text message from a California number, my mom's. She apparently read on a social media network about a certain rumor at my workplace and I was surprised she learned it before I did. As always she poured out her sweet thoughts for me from across the miles family and work-wise even to headlight restoration as I told her I have been re-learning to drive like her. My uncle who has been lovingly fetching her from work will be going on a vacation and she must be able to drive alone starting this fall season. It is quite a challenge she has been sharing me because the streets are expected to be crowded because of weather conditions and my birthday season, the Halloween! How I terribly miss my mom. She won't be around to cook my favorite dishes for me on my special day yet she manages to make me feel special always with her endless advice. "Make sure your headlights are working well before you leave home!" "and don't forget to check your breaks!" she reminds me over Skype during our chats. There's this Pep Boys stores she learned of and their reliable headlight restoration kit, the perfect tool for us moms to easily restore our cars' hazy headlight lenses without the sweat and hassle of spending much.
