Sea Anemone

Green Sea Anemone
Hmmm, can you imagine this soft flower looking sea creature, oftentimes mistaken as a sea plant as a predatory animal?

Group of Sea Anemone, Torrey Pines Tidepool
Sea anemones are a group of water-dwelling, predatory animals of the order Actiniaria. They are named for the anemone, a terrestrial flower. Sea anemones have large polyps that allow for digestion of larger prey. They are related to corals, jellyfish, tube-dwelling anemones, and Hydra. - source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_anemone
Careful Fish, Careful...Behind You Is An Anemone
Sea anemones eat small fish and shrimp, capturing them with its deadly stinging tentacles. The sea anemone's mouth and tentacles are located on the top of its body. Sea anemones reproduce by budding off baby sea anemones. The babies stay connected to the adult until it is old enough to go out on their own. If a sea anemone is torn apart by rocks, then each part becomes a new sea anemone.

Do you remember my post about sea star vs sea anemone, who is the prey, who is the predator?
Who Preys on Who? Sea Star or Sea Anemone?
I still have no specific answers right now, but somehow, my curiosity is making me wish again to stay long in the sea. Oh warm waters, come sooner, will you?
