This is my entry for Blogging For Fun Friday, however, as always, I am late. But am glad I am able to take some pictures today for this week's theme, "F". Last week, I had double E ( Excited Earth), this time, I have double F, that is Flowers at Fall.
Backyard's Blossom
In some parts of the country, where the flowers may have been maybe frozen to hibernation, here in San Diego, the bloom is year round :). Since we live in a region with mild weather, there are always flowers around. Here are some more flowers from our yard which blooms almost year round.
Fuschia
Euphorbia Milli ( thanks Pacey for helping me name this flower )
Oleander ( thanks to Pacey for the name)
Because it is already a November and we can now park at Lake Poway without paying for entrance ( non Poway residents pay entrance fee from April to October ), we went to nearby Lake Poway for a hike. I was planning to take some sunset pictures by the lake surrounded with layers of hills. However, we started hiking early enough :( that we were done before sunset, therefore, we were not on the side of the lake that will have both water and hills at sunset. But thankfully, despite having no sunset reflection on water, I was still happy with my sunset picture for today.
Sunset from Lake Poway
Where is the lake? Here is Lake Poway, also taken at sunset, but this one looks East. I planned to be at the East side of the lake at sunset so I could take picture of the lake with hills at sunset, but then, we finished the hike earlier than planned. Last time, we were here, we were still hidden in the canyon and missed the sunset when we reached the top of the hill :( .
Lake Poway
Because I took this picture at sunset, the color of the water reflects some colors from the reflected hills. Just imagine me standing in between this lake and the sunset picture above. Looking West was the sunset pictures above, and looking East is the lake.

Alone But Not Lonely
PS....since this is a Saturday already, and I do not know when I would be able to update this site again :), let me deviate from "Flowers at Fall" post. During our hike today, we saw a lot of birds, it is an excitement for me...the first one that surprised me is this bird which was my first time to see at the lake.
you can click on the image to enlarge
This is not very clear since this bird is far from me and I did not bring my zoom lens :(
Then, saw a hawk with his taunting eyes ( again, sorry for low quality since I did not bring my zooming lens).
And of course, what else but egrets and waterfowls? They are a common sight at the lake though. I can't wait for spring to see white pelicans here again.
Have a happy weekend everyone.

Hi Bets, thanks for the picturesque sunset and all the beautiful flowers, it gives more joy and inspiration to enjoy what is around us.
I went for a hike too, all morning, but it was at Descanso Gardens, for the chrysanthemum and Ikebana exhibits.
Your one post does it all.
I have gone through a complete year of blogging with Ratty, and have read the four-seasons posts.
Yes, I am eager to see yours as well, which talk with beautiful pictures.
I like seeing the colorful flowers right now. The ones I see are all gone now. I learned to like them, and now I miss them like a long lost friend.
Great set of flowers and fall photos. I just the DOF in the fuchsia shot, you defiantly nailed that one and the colour is amazing too
The images of the flowers from your garden are beautiful; the one of the fuschia is my favorite. What a lovely hike you went on at Lake Poway. I enjoyed your sunset and birds, and all of your pictures.
Beautiful as always, betchai! You feed my hunger to see things in bloom and their fantastic beauties.
My rose bushes bloom all year here in Florida. The others pretty much hibernate for the winter. I love the pics.
If I hadn't chosen to live in the San Francisco area, I would be in San Diego. I love it there. Your photos are always spectacular and today's, of course, are no exception, with something for everyone. I've always loved fuschias. We have a lot of them around here. They seem to do well, even in foggier climes.
The bird photos are great.
lovely pic of the flowers and birds..
It's good to have flowers bloom all year round! Nice photos as usual! : )
A great set of photos here betchai. Your no name flowers are euphorbia milii and the pink ones are the oleanders. I like your sun shots too.
thanks again for sharing such wonderful place on earth capture by your lens. really amazing.

Oh I didn't know San Diego had mild weather all year round. San Francisco doesn't get snow but we definitely get the cold weather in the season. The sunset pictures look so lovely filled with serenity. I love flowers so the ones you took were very enjoyable to look at.
Oh my! I am always amazed at how beautiful and stunning your pictures are!! I can't choose that I can say my favorite because all of them are gorgeous and perfect before my eyes!!
Thank you for sharing Betchai... Btw, thank you for asking about my pregnancy... I am doing fine inspite of all the discomfort I feel in the last weeks before my due date. I am hanging in there...I know it's all worth it once I have baby Dylan in my arms.
Hope you have a great week ahead! Take care.
Debbie :)
what a visual feast! you take nice photos...
Oh betchai, as always your photos take me to new heights within nature.
The Fuschia is so striking and vibrant. I love taking these journeys on your blog.
Awesome. There are so many varieties of photos here. :) The one I love the most is the last one.
Beautiful shots! I love the way how Fuschia faces downward like a shy lady. And I always like shots of sunset.
As for the waterfowl, my favorite shot would have to be the last one; their colors are stunning.
Bethchai thank you for your greetings girlash! ;)

I love flower season. And those ducks looked really pretty.
Your pictures are indeed very lovely. I can see that you truly appreciate the simple joys of life.
Your flowers are gorgeous. Outsanding!
I did not know what oleander blossoms look like. We don't have it here. It's poisonous right? And that is a great picture of the hawk... no apologizing!
It's always refreshing to see all your photos, so much in it just simply stunning. that lake shot is very nice with the sunset's reflection and I love that 2nd flower. Also I noticed your sunset there is very very lovely to look at.
