My Potato Chip Rock At Mt. Woodson

Let me take a break from sharing our fun and wonderful summer trip at Washington and Oregon to go back to what is closer to heart and home. I know some may find the picture below scary, but somehow it is one of my favorite spots in San Diego County.
On Top of The World at Potato Chip Rock
Hiking to Potato Chip Rock from Blue Sky Ecological Reserve
is one of my favorite peak bagging hikes close to home. After hiking 5 miles and about 2600 ft climb from Blue Sky, it feels so good to be at the top of the world with a 360 degree view of San Diego County. On top of the world, it seems the wind blows away everyday's stresses and give that full revitalizing spirit to face joyfully our journey in life. During spring,
when the trail is lined with wildflowers swaying with the wind, the hike seems like a walk in heaven. The sights of the birds are always a bonus,
Osprey
( I cropped this picture to make the osprey appear closer and larger in sight )
though they may be far from sight and to take a decent good picture, but nevertheless, they are always a joy to see and adds excitement to the hike. This hike, like most of our other hikes and outdoor activities in San Diego, brings us more than 4 hours away from home. I usually see to it that close family members or friends of family know our activity so that whatever happens to us, someone can always shout and send warning signals if in case we may not appear afterwards. This practice gives me a piece of mind.
In our houses however, what gives us a sense of security is not always a person. Instead, a lot of us rely on various security systems of our choice. Like a wall clock having a Hidden Camera system that does not show any tell tale signs that it is recording a video of what is going on. Aside from wall clock, hidden camera systems come in different designs such as a tissue box, an electronic picture frame that runs your favorite pictures, a desk clock, a cordless phone, or anything that we find around our house. They can be our eyes when we are not around, to add more protection and security to our home. And be there on top of the world with a peace of mind, finding a rejuvenating energy to fuel our daily lives.

  3. Your adventures take you high and low. From that angle, the Potato Chip Rock doesn't look as precarious.

  4. Thank you for sharing regarding your mum. I don't think letting nature take it's course is euthanasia. Euthanasia is actively giving some drugs to end a life.

Your mum is at peace in heaven. She is happy to know how you feel about her.

Losing a mum is hard, mine died suddenly because of an accident.

Over time, the hurt will lesson. But you will never forget your mum and some one says, it is like losing a piece of puzzle.

  5. really love the potato chip rock. and you are right, sometimes when we are out in the outdoors and having fun... I can't help but think of the things i left behind... the house... is it still intact? and when this happens it spoils the fun that we are having.
