Moro Rock, Sequoia National Park, CA

Sierra Nevada Mountains on Top of Moro Rock
If you are visiting Sequoia National Park, home of the largest trees on Earth, one of the interesting places to experience is Moro Rock.
The Great Western Divide From The Top of Moro Rock

Moro Rock is in the center of Sequoia National Park, the trail head is 2 miles from Generals Highway between giant Forest and Crescent Meadow. In the summer, the hike to the top of Moro Rock is very short, just 1/4 mile to the top gaining 300 ft elevation. Because of ice, the hike to the top of Moro Rock becomes longer, though it is not advised to hike to the top of Moro Rock when the trail is icy or when there are thunderstroms.
Moro Rock From Amphitheater Point, Hwy 180
Moro Rock is a granite dome that is common in the Sierra Nevada mountains. These granite domes were formed by exfoliation.-(-please click here to learn more of the geology of Moro Rock.)
The climb to the peak of Moro Rock has become easier because of the staircase that was cut into and poured onto the rock in 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Below are some more photos we took from the top of Moro Rock.
